Undergraduate Scholarships
The University of Memphis has two main categories of fully funded scholarships for international undergraduate students: the International Merit Scholarship and the International Student Scholarships.
The International Merit Scholarship
The international merit scholarship is a scholarship program that selectively awards competitive merit-based scholarships for newly admitted degree-seeking international students on a J-1 or F-1 visa taking classes on campus. The scholarship amounts vary and can potentially cover the difference in cost of international and domestic non-Tennessee resident tuition rates. The scholarship is based on the academic average at the time of admission and demonstrated English proficiency. \
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an international student who will be studying in the USA on a student visa, and you must meet the University of Memphis’s general admission requirements and English language admission standard. You must also demonstrate financial need and submit a separate online application for the International Merit Scholarship by December 31 for the spring intake, and by July 31 for the fall intake.
The International Student Scholarships
The International Student Scholarships are application-based scholarships that require students to submit a separate online application by January 10. The scholarships are open to students who are studying in the USA on a student visa and who have outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills, and community involvement. The scholarships can range from $5,000 to $120,000 over four years, depending on the type and level of the award.
Some of the International Student Scholarships include the President’s International Distinction Scholarship, the International Leader Scholarship, the May Quon Undergraduate Scholarship, and the University of Memphis Global Citizen Scholarship for IB Diploma International Students.

The Graduate Assistantship Program
The Graduate Assistantship Program is a program that provides financial support and professional development opportunities for graduate students who work as teaching assistants, research assistants, or administrative assistants for the university.
The program provides a stipend and a full tuition waiver for up to two years for master’s students and up to four years for doctoral students. The program is open to students in all disciplines and fields, and it is awarded based on academic excellence, research potential, and leadership skills.
